How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“It all started in October 2022 when Michael and I bought a house in the area. We were driving around to explore and stubbled upon Ridgecrest. I had always wanted to get married on the side of a cliff. I said wouldn't it be so cool to get married here? Right in our town? Fast forward to seeing an ad for Stroudsmoor wedding expo. I wasn't even engaged and I booked us two tickets. It was just one day before the expo, when Michael proposed. I only had one venue in mind. Ridgecrest. When I would tell people where I was getting married at, I will never forget what everyone said; "it is so pretty there and the staff take such great care of you". And oh my gosh, YES do they ever take care of you! I can have panic attacks but the staff kept me focused. I was well care for with patience and love. I learned new techniques to distract me from anxiety that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Belkis, Corinne, Kaylie, Becca, Corinne's sister and Carolyn. You ladies kept me together. At the end of wedding night, I have received nothing but positive compliments of how stunning my wedding was. It was the best wedding some guests had attended. The most beautiful. The happiest. Room was filled with love and everyone could feel it. Guests told me the food was great. So much food. So many IPA choices. Appetizers were great. Band was awesome. Venue stunning. Views of the valley gorgeous. Live painter was amazing. Hair and make-up made my girls into bombshells. A luxury deluxe wedding. I went all out for this wedding. Deciding to book it for March and hoping for snow. And sure enough, during my vows I got my a small flurry of snow. This place is magic. I would do it again and again. Wedding planning is stressful but this place made it easy with an all in one package. Hair and make up, catering, floral and decor, bakery, and lodging ALL on site!! Then just use their wedding expo to research and pick a photographer, music, transportation and officiant. And you have all the major stuff already done! The next day after my wedding I did not have a feeling of let down. I was on cloud 9. And I told Michael, this place can just take my money again and again.”

“We just had our wedding at Deity in April 2024 and couldn’t be happier with how our special day went. The planning process: After we toured the venue, we knew Deity was special. The pricing was very transparent and super reasonable considering everything that’s included – the venue (lounge, loft, and basement), day-of coordinator, food, 50 bar credit pp, basic décor package, and DJ. The space is gorgeous and so unique, unlike any other venue we’ve attended as guests or toured. Each floor has a purpose and accompanying vibe to match – the bridal suite is relaxing and picturesque (highly recommend adding this to your day for an added cost), the cocktail lounge is dreamy, the ceremony loft (and dinner space) is bright yet cozy, and the basement dance floor is funky and fun. Because the venue was already beautifully designed and all inclusive, the only things we needed to provide for the ceremony/reception were signage (welcome, table arrangements, his/her drinks), minimal décor/flowers (we hired a florist for the ceremony arch and did bud vases for the tables and they turned out beautiful), and dessert. Some (including me) may be nervous about all-inclusive venues, however Deity was so accommodating to the little ways in which we wanted to make our wedding unique, such as incorporating cultural outfit changes into the schedule to setting up a late-night instant noodle bar. Finally, Anna, the coordinator included with the venue, was a godsend. She made the whole wedding planning process so much easier, patiently answered all my random questions, and provided guidance where needed. The day of: Our family and friends were blown away by the bridal suite. We were relaxed the whole morning while getting ready and got some beautiful photos to start off the day. Once the day started rolling, Anna and the whole Deity team were on top of everything. They made sure everyone was on schedule but also were flexible with last minute changes, even making sure my husband and I had private moments to ourselves. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had so many guests compliment the cocktail hour bites and dinner service, even our very picky grandma said it was the best salmon she’s ever had. The drinks were flowing and we had guests commenting on how drink service on the dance floor was genius – everyone could continue dancing and no one was ever waiting with an empty glass. Also, my husband and I were initially nervous about an in-house DJ because we are very picky with music but DJ BenHaMeen was amazing, listened to our wants and needs, and kept the dancefloor lively (our photographer even complimented the music!). All in all, we cannot recommend Deity enough. Our guests are still asking if we can have a wedding there every year (we wish!).”

“My mother and I had a joint celebration of our birthdays around late September last year. The venue was everything we could have dreamed of. Since it is situated in Roosevelt Island, it was the perfect venue to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city and yet still get a beautiful view of the Manhattan Skyline. “We had a fabulous wedding reception at the Donauschwaben German Cultural Center (Lenau Park). Their entire staff—from their awesome coordinator Christine to their banquet captain and bar staff—was so kind, so professional, and most importantly made our guests feel welcome and taken care of. Christine came to every meeting organized and prepared. She understands the details as well as the emotions that go into planning a wedding and was a great part of our support system. She is fair and reasonable—even helped us make a German Hall a little more “Italian” for the bride. We could not have asked for a better partner! As for the venue itself, it was the perfect place to host 300 of our closest friends and family. The space was beautiful, bright and happy. Our guests were comfortably seated at 32 round tables of 8 to 10. The team made all of our décor visions come to life. The outdoor patio was welcoming and comfortable for guests as well. The dance floor is huge! Perfect for an Italian tarantella. I would also say the room is set up well acoustically—with 300 people in the room and music playing, you could still hear the other people at your table. The entryway was also perfect for our receiving line. We were happy to see that guests could enjoy their time—whether they wanted to dance the night away, sit and chat, or just enjoy the night air with family. The food was excellent—seriously excellent. We got so many compliments after the wedding! They have their buffet line down to a science with all of our guests being served in a reasonable amount of time. They also did a great job of meeting the needs of our gluten- and dairy-free guests. That is so hard to do when you are feeding so many people, and even these guests said they enjoyed their meals. Finally, the money we spent on this wedding reception was well worth the value. The food and beverage packages are incredibly fair for the quality and the amount of food your guests will be served. We were also able to add appetizers and some special add-ons at a reasonable rate. The linens are provided by a separate vendor, but even those costs were not too bad, and everything looked beautiful when it was decorated! While there are certain rules the venue must follow and sometimes we needed to negotiate the details, Christine was highly transparent and upfront with us, and always worked with us to find the right solution for our day. After hosting our wedding here, we would absolutely do it again with this space and this team. When it comes to the Donauschwaben, we strongly recommend them for your wedding reception and cannot say enough good things about their level of service!”

“Can’t overstate what an incredible experience we had with the Oviatt. Not only was the venue perfect for wedding, but the staff truly made the entire planning and day-of experience so smooth and welcoming. The space is gorgeous and one-of-a-kind - we didn’t have to decorate at all, there were so many little spaces and pockets guests to explore and mingle in, all the original art deco decor and furnishings were so cool. We didn’t have to add anything (but could have brought in outside rentals and vendors if we wanted) - the venue rental includes seating for the ceremony and reception, the rooftop lounge was fully furnished was lounge furniture, the terrace is already decorated with bistro lighting, twinkle lights and ivy walls, and there is lounge seating throughout the indoor space. Also included were cocktail tables, easels for signage, tables for our buffet set up. All of these things at other venues we looked at were either additional costs or we’d have to bring in additional vendors to supply. What really made the experience though was the Oviatt staff - Lindsey and Gabe are both so friendly, approachable, welcoming and supportive. Other venues we looked at were all business, had a “take it or leave it” vibe and kind of made us feel like we should be grateful for even to be given the chance to have an event there; Lindsey and Gabe were the exact opposite - they weren’t just trying to rent out a space, they were helping us host our wedding and doing everything they could to make sure our plans were realized. They provided us with so much information beyond what was required of them - they had a whole packet with a suggested timeline for planning, a Planning Pod tool that enabled us to track our vendors and plan out our floorplans and seating charts, lists of vendors we needed to consider and decisions we needed to make. Gabe had an actual meeting with us to discuss what we were looking for in a venue and our wedding, and have is all of this information we even booked the space. Lindsey followed up with us periodically in the months leading up to the wedding to remind us of what we needed to be taking care of and making sure we were on track. Both of them were always generous with their time answering our many questions and being flexible in accommodating our requests. We felt so supported and cared for throughout the entire process, and felt more like we had friends in our corner than like we were coordinating with a vendor. Truly cannot say enough about how wonderful this team is and how appreciative we are. We looked at practically every venue in the downtown/northeast LA area, and this one not only blew away the competition in what they offered, but it was also the most affordable option! It’s really like having the efficiency of an all-inclusive venue without the restrictions. And of course all of our guests loved it - we are still getting comments on how unique and beautiful the space was, and how much everyone enjoyed having so many different spaces to explore and congregate throughout the evening. Best decision we could have made.”

“I have been dreaming about getting married at The Gallagher for years and am not exaggerating when I say that my wedding on 9.28 exceeded every single one of my expectations! Jenna and Jenna took every bit of stress off my plate and handled every last detail of making my day what I envisioned it would be. Jenna helped my bridesmaids peel protective stickers off 125 champagne glass tags for our seating chart and then handled the rest from there - and of course, it turned out perfect. The house on the property is huge and absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect place to have our rehearsal dinner, get ready in the morning with my girls, and party all night long at the fire pit and pool table inside. My parents were able to bring their RV and park on the lawn behind the house so that our babies could sleep near us without having to stay inside the house with the wedding party. She even has umbrellas in the closet of the getting ready room in case of rain! The Gallagher is a 10/10 and I recommend this venue to any bride that wants to wake up on her wedding day and know that everything is going to be taken care of by people that genuinely want to see all your dreams come true!”
