How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“We got married at Woodsgate at the Stroudsmoor last weekend and to say it was perfect would still be an understatement. All but two of our vendors were internally through the venue and they took care of everything! From food to cake to makeup and hair to decorations, the Stroudsmoor team did a fantastic job putting together such a magical day for my husband and I. Our closest guests and us stayed for the weekend and enjoyed their gorgeous rooms with woodsy views and a delicious breakfast buffet for both mornings. Throughout the weekend, the staff were friendly and personable and were a part of some of our best memories from the weekend. It’s a week later and our guests still have not stopped raving about the food and the incredible service. The price was reasonable and worth every penny! We are extremely happy we made the choice to sign with the Stroudsmoor and look forward to staying here in the future and even attending more weddings here in the future! “First off, the wedding coordinator MELISSA at The Milestone Denton is godsend and 10000% deserves a huge raise and fat bonus for the amount of work she does and is so helpful in the planning process. She was very honest and upfront during the entire planning process. I am very Type A and for once in my life it was nice to have someone else in charge and I fully trusted her. She even provides recommendations when you don’t know what you want and will be honest with pricing. If it weren’t for Melissa, I don’t know how the wedding would have gone and I would have been so stressed during the planning process. She is so awesome that she goes out of her way to do things for you (be nice everyone!) and is very responsive. She also helped with the reception layout with my divorced parents who do not get along with other family members and it was a success. MELISSA IS THE BEST!! The venue - BEAUTIFUL. We had our ceremony indoors which was nice because our guests were able to take pictures at the gabezo in the back during cocktail hour. If you do your ceremony outside at the gazebo, the guests won’t be able to have their little photoshoots. The entire venue is gorgeous and every corner is a photo-op. It’s a great venue if you have 150 or less people. The big windows everywhere were just so beautiful. The bridal suite is HUGE and beautiful and the grooms suite is upstairs and has a tv and pool table. Perfect for the boys! The food, bar and DJ - everything was great and explained throughly by Melissa so expectations were set and made based on what tier and package you purchased I did not use the Walter Weddings photographer, florists or cake designer so I can’t speak to that. One downfall was on the day of the wedding with Melissa’s day of partner, Allison. She is super sweet and helped steam my bridal gown and Matron of Honor’s dress, which I’m so appreciative of. But I guess she didn’t communicate well to the staff on what needed to be done that day because there were several mishaps that shouldn’t have happened. The ceremony room was incomplete and she didn’t give me the chance to see how the front tables looked. I purchased 100 of bouquet flowers and ribbons that were supposed to be tied to each seat which I was told could be done since it was a simple task to tie 3 flowers and a bow on each aisle chair. This was not done so that small detail from my ceremony room seem bland and a waste of money. The front tables weren’t done how I wanted and it was chaotic having presents with our guestbook and our wedding sign. We wanted to utilize the buffet type table in the front room for presents so it’s not so cluttered when you walk in. Also, a lot of my items were not used for cocktail hour. After the wedding, I noticed the box was opened but she did not use what I purchase and the display for cocktail hour looked like a “backyard bbq” according to my guests. I was so disappointed because I had custom items and “backyard bbq” did not fit the vibe of “old Hollywood glam” of the wedding. Other than the day of mishaps, I highly recommend doing your wedding at Milestone Mansion Denton and having Melissa as your coordinator. GIVE HER A HUGE RAISE, Walter Weddings!!! She’s top notch and deserves it!”

The venue provided use with outstanding vendor recommendations & planning details throughout the year leading up to our wedding and then our wedding coordinator, Alli, brought the whole thing home into a tightly coordinated day that was smooth & spectacular. “I went to the open house last year and fell in love with the Venue at First sight. The grass, pecan trees, citrus trees, and then 40,000 lights sold the deal. We got married on 5/25/24, with almost all guests flying in. Every guest commented on how romantic the venue was. Stephanie and Ben were the best; they were both very professional and provided their expertise when needed. I can't forget how the ceremony went perfectly due to the support and always encouraging staff, especially Ben. Ensemble Catering is a part of the venue, and being that I have mostly foodie friends, everyone thought the food was delicious. The late-night Fries and Cookie Wall were discussed for the next few days when guests called to say how much they enjoyed the evening. Another consideration in my 5-star review is that the vendors in the package and on their website were just as great to work with. My husband and I are so grateful to everyone who worked that day and all the others who helped plan and make it the best day of our lives. “We had our wedding at Olio in April 2025, and it was the perfect venue. We wanted something with an industrial vibe and large space, but the beautiful hardwood floors, ability to customize the space, and the welcoming owner, Sarah, are what truly sold it for us! At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. “I cannot say enough about how AMAZING The Boylston Rooms was for my wedding!!! If you are looking for the perfect New England wedding in an old industrial building then THIS is the place for you. The best part is it’s a dedicated wedding venue. It is their entire job to throw the best weddings ever. They have a room FULL of decorations to choose from. They provide tableware, different colored table cloths and napkins, faux greenery and candles, drapery, arbors, card boxes, picture frames, etc. There are dedicated bridal and grooms suites with a lock code to keep your items safe. Fun settings around the building for photo sessions. Two beautiful rooms for the ceremony and reception. A beautiful patio for cocktail hour as long as weather permits. A dedicated catering kitchen attached to the reception room who will cater to all dietary needs!! I have celiac disease and they provided an entire gluten free buffet for my guests and EVERYTHING was delicious. Not to mention the staff!! Erin and Myles are the BEST!!! “Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center was the perfect venue for our daughter & son-in-law’s wedding. The location to the airport, highway and hotel were ideal. Their property provided plenty of parking. The wedding was outside on a 92 day and was flawless. It was hot, but the trees were in the perfect position to shade the entire patio. The entire staff was amazing. The reception space was transformed into a beautiful space for our special celebration. Our family and friends shared with us how delicious the appetizers, meal and “aftertizers” of the homemade pretzels. Christine the Event Manager went above and beyond and made sure the day was special for everyone. She answered all of my questions, even up to the last minute. We were so impressed with how many times Christine checked in with us to make sure we were happy. We highly recommend Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center.”

“Incredible. The Flagstaff House exceeded our expectations in every way. When we were initially brainstorming our wedding we wanted to prioritize the food and the music, aiming for a "supper club" vibe, and Flagstaff certainly knocked it out of the park. We decided on a day time lunch wedding and it was so much fun. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how incredible the event was - the 5 star food, the delicious drinks, the wait staff's attentiveness, the VIEWS. Annie coordinated our event and she was absolutely wonderful. A true professional who is accommodating to all ends. Even when we weren't sure about something, Annie was always there with an excellent suggestion on how to execute. The wait staff come around and take drink orders, as opposed to the typical wedding bar that has a huge line. The kitchen accommodated all food and allergy restrictions with ease, and the bar staff even created some delicious fall cocktails on our behalf. We couldn't be happier with our ceremony overlooking the flatiron mountains. The location is truly special. They've made us raving fans and we will certainly be back for a "regular" dinner service soon.”

“BOOK WITH NAZARETH HALL!! I can not say enough good things about this wedding venue. First of all it’s gorgeous!!! And they checked all of our boxes and more. We were looking for an all inclusive venue and that is just what they do. Venue, catering, alcohol and ceremony and reception all in one place! Their wedding coordinators make the wedding planning process so easy. They were available for any email or phone call any time. They provide you with a preferred vendor book which is amazing and helped us pick ALL of our vendors. The food and bar service were great and I got so many compliments from family and friends. Last but not least they provide you with a day of coordinator! She took all the stress away on the wedding day, communicated with the preacher, musicians, etc and made sure everyone was lined up correctly! As a bride I couldn’t appreciate this enough! She also brought my husband and I drinks all night so we could stay with family and friends and dance and didn’t have to worry about going down to the bar. Nazareth hall is amazing and I can’t say enough great things about them! If you are looking for a wedding venue look no further!”
