How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“What is there to say! Five stars is simply not enough! Well for starters we just had our wedding at the Terraview on 10.19.24 and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! There are simply not enough words to describe this venue and this entire atmosphere as well as planning process. Our coordinator was Barbara and she was fantastic. The entire year leading up to our wedding. There was nothing but amazing communication and help at every turn. They make the planning process for your event or wedding so easy and we were so grateful since we honestly had no idea where to begin. Everything was amazing on the day of and was perfect to beginning to end. There is not a thing that we would have changed about our wedding. From the decorations to the florals to the food, there was no detail left out. If you are looking for a truly unique and beautiful wedding or event space, I highly recommend this venue. The details of our day were so intimate and so carefully thought out by the entire team that we had working with us. We worked with the floral department and the bakery and the kitchen to create an amazing day. The transparency is second to none and we are forever grateful. They also have an on-site beauty studio where your hair makeup can get done and they were also fantastic to work with! Gina and her girls are truly talented and made my entire bridal party look stunning. My day of bridal attendant was Belkis and she is absolutely amazing. There was not one thing that we had questions on that she could not handle. She made sure that all the girls were eating. She made sure that I as the bride ate and was hydrated. She made everybody make sure that their dresses were perfect and during the getting ready portion, she was there for us 110% of the time helping with photos. Making sure that every detail on my dress was perfect. There are not enough words for her and I am profoundly grateful. After the ceremony, she insured that we had a drink in our hands and made sure that we were eating during our reception. She made sure that we were eating and brought us water on the dance floor and drinks on the dance floor and was just always at our side ready to help us. She is definitely an asset to this venue in so many ways. It is also close to the Scranton airport if you have guest coming from farther away. They have different venues on site (different sizes and styles) and it’s one event per day at each so you aren’t dealing with other parties. It is absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony sites are outdoors with gorgeous views and the reception rooms are beautiful. It is a family business and you do truly feel like family while working with them. I cannot say enough great things! It’s close to many hotels so getting blocks wasn’t an issue. You also get some rooms on site. You also get a wedding coordinator and a day or person who is well aware of you needs and wants! Our day was absolutely perfect beginning to end! They make it so easy to plan and stress free! Food was absolutely amazing and my guests have been raving since! I had a cocktail reception which I highly recommend exploring! They have their own full bakery so all desserts were also made by them! We are truly grateful for the entire team at the Stroudsmoor, who made our wedding day unforgettable and a day that our guests will talk about forever. From the up-front pricing information, to the first tour with Caio, to securing our date, coming in for a menu tasting and having our planning meeting with Anna and Kat - every step of the way reinforced my confidence that choosing Deity as our wedding venue was the right choice! The space is a beautiful historic building that's been converted to a four story (plus rooftop!) party venue. I loved that Deity provides all the dinnerware, linens and candles, it really limited the decisions we had to make so we could focus on personal touches for our day. “Living in AZ a majority of wedding venues are desert landscaped, which is beautiful but not something I was looking for. I also noticed while looking at other venues the background of the ceremony had buildings or houses that were visible in the pictures, again, not something I was looking for. I set up a tour and let me tell you pictures do not do that place justice. Seeing it in person during the day and at night with all the trees lit up is absolutely beautiful!! “Working with the team at summit was absolutely wonderful! They were super organized and super helpful! I had some pretty specific things I wanted when it came to music and the reception and this team made it happen so flawlessly!! DJ did an amazing job. Food and drink service was wonderful. The whole team was so sweet and kind. The decor they have available is so pretty and it made it so much easier to not have to DIY everything. Arrival in the morning was smooth sailing they set up all the stuff we brought in as well as the stuff from their decor that we picked out. So many guests came up to me to tell me this was the smoothest run wedding they had ever been to! The views were amazing and overall experience was positive. I was in tears at the end of the night because I was so happy with how it turned out. My only complaints are 1) with the florist we got put with. I thought we were extremely clear on what colors the wedding was and what she created was way off. I tried to be happy about them but I just really wasn’t pleased, but I wasn’t about to let this dim the magic of the day. 2) having the rehearsal the morning of the wedding. It delayed us getting ready and that delayed the amount of time we had for pictures. I basically missed all the time for portraits for myself and my family photos were so rushed we didn’t have time to get what we wanted. It broke my heart when we got our wedding photos back it reminded me of how much we missed because the venue time was so short. 3) we felt rushed during portraits after the ceremony, then to find out we were 15 minutes ahead of schedule later on. It worked out on one hand because my dress bustle took a while but we missed out on many of the poses and second shooting location for my husband and I because of this. Again looking back at our photos I am sad to have missed this opportunity. 4)I do wish they would allow an extra hour for the reception, the dancing portion of the night was pretty short and it bums the guests out when last call is announced shortly after starting.”

“From the second we saw the venue in person and met with the Event Manager, Myles, we knew we found the perfect venue. The venue was beautiful from the start but the added touches of drapery, being able to select the right arch from their numerous options and countless other decor items really allowed us to bring our vision to life. The event spaces of the ceremony room, courtyard for cocktail hour and reception room comfortably fit our 94 guests. We were also very appreciative of not only having a spacious bridal suite to get ready in but also a grooms suite, as both came in handy. In briefly working with the Owner and Event Manager, Erin, we were introduced to the transportation option of using the venue's trolley service, which we were so thrilled we went with as our guests greatly enjoyed the special ride. And as mentioned, we knew The Boylston Rooms was the right venue for us after we met with Myles. Working with Myles was fun, effortless and very thorough. We also had the chance to work with Event Manager, Alyssa, on the day of the wedding who did a great job meeting our needs each step of the way. “My husband and I got married two weeks ago at The Sanctuary and had the best night! Our guests loved the many features of the venue (the pier, patio, tent, and indoor space), complimented the food and drinks, and we were all extremely impressed by the high quality service provided by the bartenders and waiters. Working with Amelia and Kat on the day was a pleasure and we couldn’t thank them enough for supporting us as we got set up that morning, and throughout the day. Our wedding day was the first time we interacted with either of them, and it was a pleasant surprise to have so much support on our side. Throughout the planning process we worked closely with Alfonso. Alfonso does a great job selling The Sanctuary and was available to answer our questions along the way. There were definitely some things we needed to dig into a bit more than we thought we’d have to - creating a detailed timeline for the day based a few examples provided, develop clearer floorplans of the venue for our vendors to ensure they understood the space, putting together a table map for our dinner setup, renting/purchasing the sound equipment needed for our ceremony on the pier, finding an alternative rehearsal space, and hiring a day of coordinator to support with decor, set-up, flow, and cleanup. Reading other reviews of the venue was super helpful to ensure we were asking the right questions and following up on pieces that seemed unclear. If you’re looking for an affordable (relative to the rest of NYC), dynamic, and interesting wedding venue, and you’re willing to put in the work or hire a wedding planner, this is definitely a great contender!”

Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center is a banquet hall in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Couples don't need German heritage or lederhosen to enjoy the elegant splendor of this wedding venue. We are conveniently located 12 minutes from the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Our Main Hall can accommodate 300+ guests for a wedding. There is a minimum of 150 guests required June-October and 125 guests all other months. It has high ceilings with beautiful lighting, a large dance floor and built-in stage perfect for a live band or DJ. There is also an attached patio that overlooks a lake and fountain. Our wedding packages start at $73 per person and include appetizers, dinner, open bar, chair covers, centerpiece options and more! “Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center was the perfect venue for our daughter & son-in-law’s wedding. The location to the airport, highway and hotel were ideal. Their property provided plenty of parking. The wedding was outside on a 92 day and was flawless. It was hot, but the trees were in the perfect position to shade the entire patio. The entire staff was amazing. The reception space was transformed into a beautiful space for our special celebration. Our family and friends shared with us how delicious the appetizers, meal and “aftertizers” of the homemade pretzels. Christine the Event Manager went above and beyond and made sure the day was special for everyone. She answered all of my questions, even up to the last minute. We were so impressed with how many times Christine checked in with us to make sure we were happy. We highly recommend Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center.”

“100% would recommend Walden for a stress-free wedding experience!!! We knew Walden was our venue when we read about their full-service wedding packages including planners, kitchen/bar all under one roof. After we toured the venue, we could not wait to have our wedding here. Our main planners were Hannah and Briscel, and we had the pleasure of a 3rd planner, Ally with a last-minute day-of staffing change. Hannah and Briscel took the stress out of wedding planning, keeping us on track with every detail and vendor. Ally made sure the wedding day ran seamlessly. One of the best things we loved about working with the planners was their recommendations for local vendors (floral, DJ, photography etc.). Their assistance contacting and coordinating calls/quotes from vendors was also a huge help. Every possible detail regarding the wedding was accounted for, so we were certain nothing would be missed along the way. Now for the fun part, our wedding day was absolutely perfect and better than we ever dreamt. The coordinators kept us on schedule and sent an itinerary in advance, so everyone knew where to be and what was coming up next. They handled all of the communication with vendors and all the little details, so we could fully be present on our wedding day. We did not have any moments of stress, or panic, and was rarely asked any questions or to do any tasks. The Walden team set everything up for us from the welcome sign to the memorial table and of course the gorgeous reception room. It’s like suddenly we got teleported into our Pinterest vision board! A big shout out to Nick and Matt, the kitchen and bar staff. They were absolutely amazing! The drinks were awesome, the bartenders could make any drink guests wanted including mocktails. The food was incredible, so many guests complimented on how delicious their meals were. We also really appreciated their accommodations for various food restrictions and preferences. Overall, the Walden staff has truly thought of everything. They made the very daunting task of planning a wedding much more manageable, and made the whole day that much more special. Could not think of a better venue in the area for folks planning a wedding!”

“The Oviatt is a wonderful venue and it was such a pleasure working with Lindsey and Gabe! We knew during our tour that the Oviatt was the right venue for us. The size (for small-medium sized weddings), location, and character of the venue is really unparalleled. Then layer on top table and linen deal when you work with a preferred catering vendor and the Oviatt is the best deal in town! Gabe was very helpful during the touring and contracting phase. He communicates very clearly which made the process very smooth. There were no surprise charges at any point. The cost of everything was communicated very clearly upfront. Then, once we signed the contract, we worked with Lindsey, the director of events who supports the planning phase. Lindsey answered all of our questions in a timely and patient manner. She never hesitated to answer our questions, even when the answers to our questions were clearly outlined in the welcome packet! The event planning tools the team uses makes it incredibly easy to stay up on all of the planning details from floorplan to linen selections, to guest count - the tool handles it all with clear deadlines for each task. Finally, on the day of our wedding the Oviatt team executed the event so smoothly. Everything went off without a hitch! Our guests were so impressed by the venue. Quintessential LA rooftop vibe with art deco architecture. Such a treat. We would recommend the Oviatt to anybody looking to get married in the downtown area. The Oviatt is reasonably priced, the staff are incredibly professional and reliable, and are just nice people. We are forever grateful to the Oviatt staff for helping us have our perfect wedding!”

“I chose ICC for my bridal shower venue because the venue is absolutely gorgeous! I loved the large venue spaces, beautiful landscapes through the windows, and overall airy feel! We ended up picking the Lyons room because it was spacious but not overwhelming. The natural lighting was gorgeous. Everything from the initial tour to the final product was gorgeous. All the staff members were incredibly kind and helpful throughout the process. Even when we came to set up the morning of, some wonderful team members were already helping to put favors on the table exactly where we wanted them (it’s like they read our minds!) “When I tell you Mountain View Ranch was the best experience a bride could ask for, I say this without hyperbole. I just got married 05/04/25 and the entire experience was so smooth I felt like I had no thoughts on my wedding day. Alex Hubbart was my wedding coordinator and she SLAYED all my wedding planning, day of coordinating, and anything else. I literally, LITERALLY could not have asked for a better coordinator. I had no idea what I wanted and she was so patient and helpful the entire time. Caryn was my banquet captain and if you can you should request her. The whole night went perfect. Aiden was our server and he was so sweet and professional. Kevin and Nate killed it. Our food was perfect. And Christie and Carrie were our bar tenders. They made me a custom drink from my grad school days helped me perfect it. I was pumped. Nate the DJ was a crowd favorite. I got the best feedback about how good he was from my guests. If I got married again, I’d do it at Mountain View ranch and I would pick the same team. Especially Alex. Do yourself a favor and book her as your coordinator before someone else snaps her up. The venue itself is beautiful and all the vendors worked so well with the venue. Imagine because they are familiar with the trip and timeline. If you want a low stress, mountain wedding with stunning views? This is the place.”

Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. “BOOK WITH NAZARETH HALL!! I can not say enough good things about this wedding venue. First of all it’s gorgeous!!! And they checked all of our boxes and more. We were looking for an all inclusive venue and that is just what they do. Venue, catering, alcohol and ceremony and reception all in one place! Their wedding coordinators make the wedding planning process so easy. They were available for any email or phone call any time. They provide you with a preferred vendor book which is amazing and helped us pick ALL of our vendors. The food and bar service were great and I got so many compliments from family and friends. Last but not least they provide you with a day of coordinator! She took all the stress away on the wedding day, communicated with the preacher, musicians, etc and made sure everyone was lined up correctly! As a bride I couldn’t appreciate this enough! She also brought my husband and I drinks all night so we could stay with family and friends and dance and didn’t have to worry about going down to the bar. Nazareth hall is amazing and I can’t say enough great things about them! If you are looking for a wedding venue look no further!”

We went in to this tour thinking we were gunna book elsewhere but the cocktail hour space took our breath away! Anne (our coordinator) and all the staff that day never let a detail go, they were attentive without being overbearing. They handled the few issues we had quietly & efficiently.
