Owner, Lead DJ

Founded in 2019 by our owner, Joe Nagan, Exceptional Entertainment is quickly becoming a well-known name in the entertainment industry. Joe has a strong passion for music having attended UW-Oshkosh for Music Engineering and traveling the world performing since a young age with various chorale groups. Booking Exceptional Entertainment is much more than just hiring a person to play some music. Our fantastic DJs are there to help you every step of the way. We provide so much more than just music and lighting, we provide an experience for you and your guests to enjoy and remember.

I have personally been a professional DJ for 14 years and have helped hundreds of couples bring their wedding vision to life. I believe in quality equipment, but more importantly knowledgable DJs that know how to properly use it. Your entertainment can make or break your wedding which is why I believe in constant education to deliver the best possible service to all our clients. You deserve more than just a man behind a computer, fancy lights, and loud music. I’ve worked with Joe for many years in my role as a wedding planner and have referred him to countless couples, but experiencing him as my own wedding DJ completely blew me away. From start to finish, Joe was phenomenal. His planning app made it so easy for us to add our must-play songs, and he turned that list into the most seamless, high-energy mix that kept the dance floor packed all night long. Every transition was flawless, the vibe was spot-on, and he somehow knew exactly how to read the crowd and keep the momentum going. Our guests are still talking are how much fun they had! Joe is professional, personable, and an absolute master of his craft. I couldn’t imagine our wedding without him and would recommend him a thousand times over. I can’t thank him enough for making our reception better than I ever imagined.

DJ Joe was nothing but the best from the start! He took the time to meet with us multiple times and made our vision come to life. Joe and his team were amazing on our big day!! Before our big day he took lots of time to meet with us to go over key details. We were also able to meet with him during times that were after our work day, so we didn't have to leave work early! In addition, his team are really great at adjusting the timing of things if they aren't going as planned and made our day run so smoothly! Lastly, his team did awesome with reading the room and tailoring the music to the crowd! Highly recommend!

Exceptional entertainment was the best decision we made for our big day! Joe and his team made our dance floor come alive all night long. They were extremely hardworking and made sure to be as upbeat and fun as possible all night long.

All of the DJs who work for Exceptional Entertainment have a minimum of 10 years of professional DJ experience.

We only use state-of-the art professional equipment that minimizes wires and doesn’t look bulky.

We always retain one DJ per weekend as a backup in the event of an emergency.

Our DJs do take requests and may play some of them. Our DJs “filter” requests, meaning they will not play a song that you specifically asked the DJ not to play or music from a genre you asked the DJ not to play. If someone makes a request that fits in well with what the DJ is playing at the time and with the music the client wants, then the DJ may play the request.

Sure, but we would like to get the music file(s) in advance of the event. If doing this please consider the audience attending your event.

A 40% deposit is required at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due 14 days prior to the event date. Payments can be made through our online planning system using a debit or credit card or PayPal account.

Clients may cancel up to 60 days prior to the event start date without being liable for the remaining balance.

We do not include gratuity in the final contract price. 10 – 20% is generally recommended if your DJ did a great job, but it is entirely up to you.

This is not required in our contract and is completely up to you. Typically, the catering director or event coordinator will set aside a meal or boxed dinner for the DJ if requested by the client.

We offer DJ services for wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate events, private parties, and school functions. We offer lighting options (uplighting and dance floor lighting) and have photo booths available. We also offer karaoke services!

You can select songs that you would like to hear at your event (as well as songs you don’t want to hear) through our online planning system. We recommend giving your DJ at least 10-15 songs of different genres and artists that you would like to hear. During your initial consultation, your DJ will ask about your music preferences.

Our DJs arrive 3 to 4 hours prior to the contracted start time to set up and contact vendors for any last minute changes. We can arrive earlier if requested by the client for an additional fee. We do not like to set up while your guests are present.
