I started photographing weddings in 2003 and eventually left my day job as a designer to do photography full-time, but I’ve never been able to turn the designer off. In addition to photos, I create a few animated gifs from every session. My style is influenced by design principles, architecture, Edward Hopper paintings, plus films by Stanley Kubrick & Denis Villeneuve. While composing I put as much attention into the scene as the subjects. I prefer to cover events solo and do my own editing, posting teasers the next day. I’m based in the Detroit area but cover weddings all over America.

I’m routinely told that working with me is easy, fun, and relaxing. Plus your photos won’t look like everyone else’s. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a wide variety of weddings, straight and gay, involving various flavors of the world’s religions and cultures: Christian, Muslim, Judaism, Buddhism, Orthodox, Catholic, Atheist, Chinese, Egyptian, Chaldean, Persian, Nigerian, Indian, Pakistani, etc. If your wedding is something I’ve never experienced that makes me really excited.

More Than Photos — Truly an Amazing Experience

We honestly can’t say enough good things about JLB. When we first found him and saw all the perfect reviews, we both wondered, “Okay… what’s the catch?” But after working with him, we realized there isn’t one. He really is THAT good. He traveled all the way to Charlotte for our engagement session, which already meant a lot to us. And from the moment we met him, he made us feel completely at ease — which is saying something because we’re definitely not people who usually love photos of ourselves. But these? We absolutely love them. Like genuinely LOVE them. What surprised us most is that it was more than just taking and getting pictures. The whole session felt like an experience. He made it fun, natural, and honestly something we’ll remember forever. He somehow captured us in a way that didn’t feel posed or forced — just real moments, real connection. The photos feel like art, but at the same time they feel like us. And the turnaround time? So fast. We were blown away by how quickly he delivered such beautiful work. Overall, the experience was incredible from start to finish. We left not just with amazing photos, but with the feeling that we got more than we even realized we were signing up for. We’re so grateful we chose him, he is a genuinely good person to be around, and we are even more excited now for him to shoot our wedding!!

I was immediately drawn to Jeffrey’s creative and artistic style — his portfolio stood out from every other photographer I came across, especially with the unique GIFs he creates. He did not disappoint! He was incredibly thorough throughout the entire planning process, taking the time to build a detailed timeline of our wedding day and reviewing it with us to make sure everything ran seamlessly. On the day of, he balanced his creative vision with professionalism — capturing stunning, artistic shots while also being amazing at posing everyone so we all looked our best. He’s also one of the most personable photographers I’ve ever met, making everyone feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. And his turnaround time is unbelievable — I had edited photos and GIFs to share within 12 hours, and our full gallery was delivered in less than two weeks. I couldn’t recommend him more!

We had the pleasure of meeting JLB in the dead of winter for our engagement shoot, and despite the below-freezing temperatures, his commitment to capturing the perfect shots never wavered. As two people who had absolutely no idea how to pose for pictures, we were amazed at how effortlessly he directed his vision and brought it to life — making us look like absolute naturals in front of the camera! JLB’s professionalism, creativity, and patience truly set him apart. We couldn’t be happier with the results and have already had multiple guests at our wedding ask for his contact information for when they have their big day comes. If you’re looking for someone who goes above and beyond, we cannot recommend JLB enough. A true 10/10 experience.

JLB is the king of photographers. I happened upon his Insta from a work friend’s wedding he photographed last year. I saved his profile and knew I wanted him to photograph us once we got engaged. Best decision we made…other than each other, lol! His work speaks for itself, it’s eye catching, rich with color and vibrancy, and the GIFs he creates are just an added lovely bonus! They are so fun. He is a photography genius, he sees things that we can’t, and I can honestly say that I love every one of the photos he took. He captured our day perfectly and effortlessly. He took the time to get to know us, to ask for any special requests, and he’s super organized. He kept our wedding day rolling smoothly and captured everything we wanted and more. He takes the extra time to know where to go for photos, and we had to do no planning or thinking on the wedding day. He took so much stress off of us. He took photos of our guests at the wedding, organized a sparkler walk out with 130 people, and managed to get the most amazing photos of my husband and I around Detroit.
