Joe Dolen Photography is a husband-and-wife wedding photography team based in Massachusetts, serving couples throughout New England and beyond. Our style blends photojournalistic storytelling with guided portraits, using prompts, cues, and simple direction to help people feel natural and comfortable while still capturing real moments as they unfold. We focus on creating a relaxed, organized experience so our clients can stay present and enjoy their wedding day.
With nearly two decades of experience photographing New England weddings, we bring a calm, steady presence to every celebration. Couples often tell us we were “everywhere and nowhere at the same time.” We offer guidance and simple direction when it’s helpful and step back when it’s not, allowing the day to unfold naturally while capturing genuine, true-to-life moments.

Simply the best

From start to finish, they partnered with us to make sure everything ran seamlessly — from helping us build a detailed timeline to ensuring everyone felt included and cared for throughout the weekend. We lost count of how many guests asked, “Who are your photographers? They’re the nicest people!” or commented on how Joe and Elin made the day even better — and how often do you hear that? They captured every moment beautifully, brought a sense of calm and fun to the day, and left us with photos we’ll treasure forever. The entire process of working with Joe from beginning to end has been a dream. My husband and I immediately felt a strong connection with Joe from early communications and had this feeling like he was a great fit for us photographer style wise and with his demeanor. Not only is he kind, incredibly approachable and a strong communicator, he also has a strong background in photographer and it shows. We booked our engagement shoot with Joe and knew we had made the right decision for our big day. Not only are we absolutely in love with our pictures from our wedding but many family and friends have commented on how wonderful he was to work with, along with his second shooter Tara Sullivan. Both of them wrangled my large family and wedding party with ease and left every very impressed. I could not recommend Joe Dolen enough!

I’m so thankful to have worked with Dolen photography. They are incredible!! Joe was so nice to work with in the planning phase- he thoroughly explained the process, options, typical timelines, and all that goes with wedding photography! He also took the time to get to know us which was so great, we instantly felt comfortable with him! He had another wedding on our date but enlisted Charles as our lead photographer and Julia as the second. They were incredible! They helped pose us and gave us cues, found so many different spots to take the pictures, and they both had slightly different styles which has worked out so beautifully for my photos!! They were both so nice and enjoyable to work with, we’re so lucky to have had them photograph our wedding. They are true professionals with incredible artistic talent. One last exciting thing- I was promised a sneak peek of 25 photos- I got 75!!! And less than 72 hours later! That was the best surprise and made me, my husband, and our families so happy. We’re so excited to see the full portfolio which will be in only 4-6 weeks! I highly recommend Dolen Photography. Pictures are such an important part of the day and I’m so lucky to have had such important moments captured so beautifully.
