We booked Common House Chattanooga for our wedding due to the convenience, exclusivity, and inclusive offerings they advertised. However, our experience was far from what we expected. Their communication style was negligent and inconsistent - they made excuses and relied on vague "policies" that were never properly communicated to us. On the day of our wedding, we encountered several issues that severely impacted our special day. They had double-booked our rehearsal and had zero remorse about it, and to make matters worse, they decided to open a public popup bar in the lounge area between our two event spaces during cocktail hour. My pastor had to go to the receptionist and plea with her because I was upstairs having an anxiety attack that we were paying all of this money for services and it was complete chaos. Despite our concerns, they only offered empty apologies and no real solutions until they finally agreed to close the popup to the public only during the cocktail hour. Imagine having spent 1.5 years planning a wedding then not even being able to communicate with the venue's event coordinator or management because they were so rude and uncooperative. At no point during our stay did anyone from management ever come offer congratulations to my husband or I or even say anything to us. Food was served cold, guests described it as "adult chicken fingers." As the bride, I had to go up to a bartender and tell them to get the food served immediately. They were so uncooperative in finding solutions to what we were asking or what was originally agreed upon (THANK GOODNESS I PUT MOST THINGS IN AN EMAIL FOR BACKUP CONFIRMATION) but yet they were very quick to email us the invoice even prior to the wedding. They were consistently incorrect in their invoices and over-charging us and even over-charged us per person by the end of the event. The front desk wouldn't even give my vendors parking passes for the day which is wild to me since that is literally a way for them to market to the community. There were so many things, big and small, that led to such a disorganized and disappointing experience. While the venue itself is beautiful, the lack of understanding, cooperation and empathy we received from the Common House management completely overshadowed the positives. We paid a premium for the exclusivity and privacy they promised, but what we ended up with was the opposite - a disorganized, inconsistent experience that left us very disappointed on our wedding day. The servers and bartenders were incredible but I thoroughly hope for their staff and future couples that they change their management methods before anyone spends that amount of money on a wedding at this venue. My hope is no one has to go through the emotional stress that their management caused leading up to the wedding. If you use them, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING THAT YOU CAN THINK OF!!!!!
