My wife and I came to them on short notice and with a lot of stress due to the time/money expenses of planning the big day. Renee was unfailingly kind, endlessly patient and always upbeat. Putting it simply, the crew at Adena are wonderful people who are very good at their job. The day itself went off without a single hiccup. Every typical issue that we encountered - such as delays on our part, or things I forgot- was handled before I even fully aware of it. They did their jobs calmly and joyfully, and helped reassure my anxious wife (and my surprisingly anxious self). The location is absolutely beautiful, maintained expertly and decorated perfectly. Our reception was elegant and rustic, with clear views of the blue sky outside making a very pretty backdrop to celebration. The Wooded Cathedral was where we had our reception, and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s dreamed of an outdoor wedding in the country. My wife and I are so happy that we switched venues to Adena. We’re thrilled that they’ve left us with these memories, and we are so happy to call the team at Adena friends. Thank you guys for helping us start a marriage on the highest possible note.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful place to celebrate our wedding. The entire property is absolutely stunning, from the ceremony site to the reception space. It’s a truly picturesque setting that made for the most beautiful photos and an unforgettable atmosphere. The day-of staff were friendly, helpful, and made sure everything ran seamlessly. My (now) wife and I enjoy the food at Alan's Falafel (Chester, NY) so much that when it came time to select a caterer we were very happy Alan's was available and worked with us on what we were looking for. We wanted to share the food we love and enjoy with our family and friends. We have been to so many weddings where the food was just underwhelming. Alan's did not disappoint. We still receive so many comments on how much the food was enjoyed and the People at Alan's worked very hard to make sure our day went smooth and we were left satisfied. Cannot recommend them enough.

The price of the venue was incredibly reasonable, and it allowed for a very personalized wedding which we loved (no required vendors). Wally, the owner, was amazing to work with. He had great recommendations for vendors, was very communicative and accommodating, and made the whole process so easy. We also loved that our friends could camp at the venue, which made figuring out transportation a lot easier. Lastly, the venue itself was so beautiful! Absolutely magical. Getting married at Rushmore Estate was like stepping into a dream. From the moment we arrived at the grand gated entry to our lakeside bonfire after-party, everything was beyond what I ever imagined. The property is stunning, with 50 acres of pure serenity, scenic views, trails, and that private lake? Unreal. The staff was incredible—so helpful, patient, and genuinely dedicated to bringing our vision to life. What really set the experience apart was how thoughtful and accommodating they were from start to finish. Months before the wedding, they helped coordinate an amazing bachelorette weekend for me and my bridesmaids. They arranged airport pickups, planned day trips into the city, and even recommended a walking trail right on the property. The night before the wedding, we had a peaceful slumber party in one of the estate’s suites. No stress, just laughter, wine, and the kind of calm I never thought possible before a wedding. Every single detail, from the day trips to the fire pit after-party, was handled with care. If you're looking for a venue that’s elegant, relaxing, and full of heart, Rushmore Estate is it.

We loved our wedding at ElmRock Inn! The venue is gorgeous and I had the time of my life. Staying onsite was amazing. I highly recommend ElmRock. The chef is fantastic and we will remember our wedding fondly for the rest of our lives. There were a few negatives during our stay, but we are still very glad that we got married at ElmRock. The first negative was that the water in the BnB and carriage house (where bride/groom stayed) kept running out at night. This was pretty annoying, but not a huge issue since the water was usually fine by morning. Second, the venue coordinator was pretty rude throughout the weekend and especially to my family. Many people at the wedding commented about how rude she was (and the fact that she wore white pants to our wedding!). The rest of the staff was nicer, though a couple of the servers were also rude, just not as bad. I expected the staff to be more accommodating and welcoming the entire weekend, but it really felt more like we were getting scolded at times. Lastly, they served my wedding cake really cold and had clearly forgotten to take it out of the fridge to get to room temperature before serving. That was quite frustrating, especially since I heard them talking about how I (the bride) needed to hurry up to start the cake cutting while I was changing, but the cake wasn't even ready! Overall, the venue is gorgeous and we had a lovely time. I think the experience would be improved by some updating to their plumbing and getting a coordinator that's nicer to their customers. The food was AMAZING and the chef is fantastic, just be warned if you're sensitive to people who can be rude/unaccommodating.

Venue considerations

  • Not for you if you prefer a more modern aesthetic

We started the wedding planning process by starting to look at venues. Falkirk was the first venue we had toured and immediately fell in love with it. From seeing the golf course, the waterfall, the gazebo, and incredible views, it was breathtaking and we imagined ourselves getting married there immediately. We met with Andrea during our tour, and had the pleasure of getting to work with her throughout our planning process, and was absolutely incredible on the day of our wedding! She made herself available to answer our (many) questions, going over timelines, and ensuring that our vision and dreams for the day came true. They had it all, from phenomenal staff to incredible food, not to mention the stunning views. We could not have asked for better! They truly make you feel like a VIP throughout the entire wedding weekend. Andrea was an absolute gem to work with, and made sure everything we dreamed of came true. And when we got the opportunity to have fireworks during our reception?! To this day, we have friends and family still talking about the firework show. Andrea worked seamlessly with other vendors and the firework staff to make sure it was a surprise show that no one would forget. Our wedding day was a dream, and we are so glad we had it at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club. We are so incredibly happy we got the pleasure to work with them, and would recommend any couples that are starting the wedding planning process, to reach out to them.

We chose The Wedding Foundry for several reasons. First is that we wanted something unique and beautiful, and felt the Enchanted Orchard was exactly that. We also really liked that this was almost an "all-inclusive" venue in that they have a wedding photographer, officiant, day-of coordinator, and caterer. After speaking with Billiam we booked, during the winter, and had not seen the venue; only photos. An absolute great decision. Billiam and Erica are thoughtful, organized, knowledgeable and overall a pleasure to work with. The online portal was easy to use and made communication and organization a breeze. Erica is an outstanding photographer, we're incredibly happy with our photos and had fun the day-of. We had so many compliments about the beauty of the venue and the food by Lekker Catering. Cathy was on top of everything, and Michele delivered a beautiful ceremony. We couldn't be happier with our wedding day. Thank you.

Beautiful venue for our wedding day! We had a bit of a bumpy road leading up to it—the original wedding coordinator at Buttermilk left at the start of the year, and there was a long period of silence. Lauren, who started working there mid-way through the year, was an absolute godsend, patiently answering my and my family’s many questions and helping confirm all the details. She and Kelly were on hand throughout my wedding weekend, keeping everything running smoothly and beautifully. The space itself is stunning—all our guests and our photographer kept commenting on how gorgeous it was. The only hiccup was that my parents’ accommodation wasn’t available when they arrived. An alternative was provided, but it was understandably frustrating. Overall, though, the venue and the team made our wedding weekend truly special!

Locust Grove Estate

5.0

Poughkeepsie, NY
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $3,000

Locust Grove Estate is an unforgettable setting for weddings throughout the year, overlooking the Hudson River that combines the charm of the 19th century with the comfort of the 21st. Our West Gallery, located in the Arts-&-Crafts style Museum Pavilion, offers a unique setting for weddings. Guests can enjoy cocktails on the covered terrace and shaded courtyard, then dine and dance in an elegant gallery with hardwood floors, a cathedral ceiling, and three walls of windows and French doors providing access to the estate’s 200 acres of gardens and grounds. The West Gallery comfortably accommodates between 50 and 150 guests for dinner and dancing, while the adjacent Garden Lawn may also be rented for a ceremony overlooking the perennial gardens. For your convenience, the rental includes tables and chairs, a caterer’s kitchen, air conditioning, ample restroom facilities, and easy parking. Locust Grove only schedules one event each evening, so you and your guests are assured privacy.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Has an energetic and exciting atmosphere
  • Natural elegance with open spaces
  • Raw space for complete customization

Venue considerations

  • Limited cleanup and setup services
  • No built-in audiovisual options
  • No all-inclusive dining options
Booking Locust Grove Estate was the best decision I made during wedding planning. The venue is stunning and yet so affordable. Locust Grove provides the space, the arch, and the chairs, but does not require you to book with their preferred vendors. Because of this, you can design your day exactly as you want it to be and within your own budget. We got so many compliments on the location, which is a Hudson Valley oasis nestled in Poughkeepsie, with beautiful gardens and views of the Hudson river. You get the best of both worlds with Locust Grove because your ceremony can be outside but the reception space is indoors and has AC. There is a Courtyard Marriott next door and a walking path connects the two properties, which was super convenient for our guests and saved us the expense of providing transportation. I could not recommend Locust Grove Estate enough!

My wife and I had the pleasure of attending an event at this beautiful site. The suite they offered was on a private floor and had a spacious and exeptionally clean bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living area. The outside grounds included small bodies of water, one with a bridge to a small island. The island had a gazebo and sacred site where we sat and meditated together. We felt so at peace as we enjoyed a light breeze coming through the willow tress. There were many lounging areas with hammocks, rocking chairs, and even a large fire places outside the pool house. We can't be more grateful for our experience here as my wife and I reached a new level of intimacy with each other. The hosts we were very accommodating and made us feel at home. We can't recommend this place enough!

The Bird and Bottle Inn was the perfect fairytale setting for our wedding. From the beginning, there were many emails back and forth to get all the details just right, but the staff was incredibly responsive and professional throughout the entire planning process. But they really shined the day of the wedding. The set-up and ceremony went so smoothly, they made sure everything was taken care of. Even last minute timeline switches like cutting the cake earlier in the night was made easy. We also were able to stay at the inn and get ready there which made things much easier on us. They had our signature drinks, champagne, and food ready and waiting for all the guests as soon as the ceremony was over. I have been to weddings where the entire cocktail hour we were just waiting on line to get a drink, this was perfectly set up. Drinks were also being continually poured and served at an inside and an outside bar, and if you couldn’t make it to the bar there was always a server nearby to help. There was even one server who was assigned just to us, he went above and beyond, always made sure we had anything we needed, always getting us drinks or more food, it was wonderful. And the food… the food was simply amazing - usually wedding food can be boring, or like it was just mass produced and pumped out of the kitchen, but their food was perfect. I am still thinking about the short rib and our guests are still raving about it over a month later. Literally one guest saying it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. And the space is so beautiful, there are so many lovely place for photos, and really makes it seem like you are in an enchanted place. The bridge over the little babbling brook for a first look, the garden ceremony by the pond, the cocktail hour on the patio, are just to name a few of the perfect spots on the property. And having our Photo Booth inside on the velvet couch was a unique touch guests really enjoyed! Not to mention getting our own private cottage to stay in! We also were able to move inside to the bar after the wedding was over with just the couple guests that were staying with us at the Inn and it was a lovely way to wind down after all the festivities were over. The entire team at The Bird and Bottle Inn truly went above and beyond to ensure our special day was everything we dreamed it would be. We couldn't have asked for a more magical venue to celebrate our love

Peekskill, NY

Venue considerations

We recently got married in Peekskill and stayed at the Abbey and had our rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, and morning after brunch there. The building and the grounds are beautiful. The food was very good and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions and guests needs. The rooms were nice, spacious, and very clean. Everyone had positive things to say about the events held at the space. There are two things that bring down this review. The first is that the event/sales staff is very hard to get in touch with. We left countless voicemails and sent many emails that all went unanswered. The turnover of the staff was quite high, and we never knew who we were going to be speaking with. The second major issue was that there is only one elevator and no freight elevator. The morning of our wedding the elevator was out of service. There are only 2 stories to the hotel so that is not the issue, but the wheelchair accessible room, which a guest of ours who is in a wheelchair was given, was on the second floor. Thankfully the elevator was fixed and he was able to make it to our wedding, but in the event of an emergency, we don’t know what would have happened.

We fell in love with this venue the moment we drove up the road. My husband and I grew up in NJ, live in Brooklyn, and were looking for a venue that felt like a nature retreat while still being accessible for our friends and family. Milford is a great town just down the road and the hotels are so close too. Linnea and Alec were so communicative and helpful with the endless lists of questions we sent them. We cannot thank them enough for setting the stage for the weekend - and I'm just so impressed with how seamless and easy it felt to use their venue. We were struck just by the beauty of the whole property. It's absolutely marvelous! We were surrounded by charming little bunnies and butterflies the whole weekend. We took advantage of the place for the whole weekend - a Friday night pizza truck party, multiple pool and hot tub hangouts, and a Sunday bagel brunch in the barn. Everybody was raving about the barn, farmhouse, and cottage. The sunset during the reception created a great atmosphere for our guests to congregate and enjoy the lawn. We felt right at home and it made our wedding so incredibly special.
