I started ScoopN' because — let’s be real — you just can’t go wrong with ice cream! 🍦 It all began with my husband of 16 years. Our very first date was at a local Thrifty ice cream shop! Years later, after we had our son, I found myself at a crossroads. He was just 6 months old, and I wasn’t quite ready to go back to work full-time — but I still wanted something of my own. So I rolled out a freezer and started scooping Thrifty ice cream right inside our family store. It was simple, fun, and full of nostalgia. We had actually dreamed of starting a mobile ice cream business even before then, 14 years ago!

I did my first wedding cake 40 years ago. I've seen many trends come and go and will do whatever I can to make the customer happy. I have my Arizona Cottage License and bake from my home kitchen. I love baking and creating amazing memories.

I was born and raised in a small town in the Philippines. I lived in California for 14 years and before moving to Arizona, I met my husband and my children (our lovely dogs). I started baking as far back as a little girl, with a simple interest in creating tasty treats for my family and I. Then I moved on to baking from scratch and began to appreciate the joy in producing and assembling each piece of the puzzle. Baking from scratch allows you to select not only the highest quality ingredients but it also creates a deeper connection between the baker and the food. As often happens, interest turned into a hobby, hobby turned into an obsession.

I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by weddings and events. My family owns an event venue there still. I took a detour and played professional golf for a number of years before A. Cakes was born in 2021. It was only fitting that I come full circle and work back in the wedding industry where my heart truly lies. I am in love with the process of learning, practicing and executing new and fun techniques on my clients’ cakes. More than that, creating a cake for someone’s special day gives me the most warm feeling. It’s truly why I do what I do.

We began as a concession company providing cotton candy at sporting events. In the fall of 2021, we extended our brand by starting our own manufacturing plant. Sweet Buckets was born as an option for customers and businesses to purchase Cotton Candy and Gourmet popcorns direct from our company.
