Warning against careless Michelle of bustle&lace
Our wedding was in May of 2024. We thought that with time passing that the pain would heal and that we wouldn’t have to do this, but here we are finally writing this as a warning to others, as it’s been impossible to let go of the hurt caused (especially with the lack of professionalism or apology from Michelle). Michelle, of bustle & lace, ruined our wedding rehearsal night and refused to let us run through it quickly even once where I, the bride, could see it because she told me to stay upstairs the entire time (where I was entering from last). She talked down to me and ignored my request, leading to tears and anxiety going into our big day. She then, unfortunately, ruined our wedding day getting ready experience, gave zero Fs about any aligned vendor plans, didn’t communicate critical plan details with vendors or ensure they could get into the venue on time, didn’t manage the day of timeline and was nowhere to be found throughout the day, caused me to miss our cocktail hour, threw away 1200 of food that she said she was “putting in the fridge” and then left me without even a backup JJs sub for when she let catering take my plate before I was able to eat any dinner, ignored me when I begged her to find me even an appetizer, was incredibly rude to our bridal party and family members and sent them away from our Ketubah signing when they were supposed to be in the room, disregarded our directions for catering table and bar set up and let tacky QR code tip signs with photos of the bartenders faces on them, put our signs and religious items in the wrong places so most people never saw them, refused to put out certain items we purchased, didn’t give out any of the boutonnières despite clear guidance so our men and fathers don’t have florals on in any of our photos, didn’t properly coordinate with the DJ, rabbi, HMU, or video on aligned timing or floor plans, so we had multiple MAJOR mistakes occur including not clearing the planned row from across our entry stairwell for our videographer to place his tripod (now missing our entire precession) because he then had to set up up front by the chuppah and ended up setting on a chair that she knew was supposed to be for a 9m pregnant bridesmaid to sit on (the bridesmaid didn’t know what to do when she looked over and the videographer was set up over the chair so she ended up standing the entire time, all because Michelle didn’t care to make sure all vendors were in the right places). This lost us our dream shots coming down our grand stairway entry, all gone because she didn’t get the planned row cleared for him. Worst of all, she broke our hearts & took zero accountability for throwing away all our florals, despite multiple conversations planning w/ her that our chuppah-turned-sh table florals were to go in the fridge overnight and that we’d pick them up in the morning. She knew that we’d paid a preservationist and how excited about this I was as the florals were a massive part of our vision for the day and she threw them ALL away, despite her assurance that they would keep anything that wasn’t part of a larger installation. Our entire day was thrown bc she didn’t set HMU in the right place, leaving my wife ALONE on her side, our ceremony started incredibly late because she didn’t communicate (squeezing our entire timeline), she disregarded multiple of our priority requests, didn’t care if we even ate, & we’re left heartbroken about the many moments & memories lost due to her carelessness.
Bustle & Lace Went ABOVE AND BEYOND!!
Michelle & her team at Bustle & Lace were truly the highlight of our wedding. Michelle was recommended to us by another vendor, and immediately her responses were kind, thoughtful, and prompt. We worked together for a year & she was always on top of everything. She even did stuff for me behind the scenes that I didn't even know I had to get done. She was just so natural - she felt like a friend. We were the first to be getting married in our families and friends so we were new to this wedding planning stuff & she helped guide us to a perfect day. She took on extra calls, drove out to pick up stuff from me for the wedding, dropped off our marriage certificate, communicated with our vendors leading up to the wedding, lead our rehearsal the night before, checked in while we were getting ready on the day of, and so much more. Our guests and families even commented about how amazing they were. I wish words could describe how much I appreciated working with Michelle & her team, but they never will. In a time of stress & excitement, she was a calm, nurturing voice that helped guide us to a seamless day. I'm so grateful to have crossed paths with her & worked alongside her during this super special time in our lives. Thank you again. 3
Amazing Coordination for Our Indian-fusion Wedding
We had the absolute pleasure of working with Michelle (Bustle & Lace) as our wedding coordinator at Sarabande Chicago, and I can't imagine our day without her support. Our wedding was a bit complex, it included a Hindu ceremony in the morning, followed by a break, then a traditional American-style cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. Michelle handled every piece with grace and precision. Having had an Indian-fusion wedding herself, she was especially knowledgeable about many of the cultural details involved, which made us feel even more confident and understood throughout the process. One of the things that drew us to her was her unique coordination model, where we met with her every few months for a year leading up to the wedding. My husband and I knew that we wanted to stay very involved in the decision-making that went into wedding planning, and her package was the perfect fit for that. Even though we did a lot ourselves, Michelle’s expertise, thoughtful feedback, and vendor connections made the entire process feel guided and manageable. We actually enjoyed wedding planning more than we expected—largely because of her insight and support. She offered incredibly helpful input on our choices and timeline, and provided so much value long before the wedding day was even close. As we entered the final month, her coordination ramped up. She took the lead with our vendors, helped us stay on top of all our final tasks, and made sure nothing fell through the cracks. She also led our venue walkthrough with the full vendor team, helped with setup the day before, and made sure we felt confident heading into the big day. On the wedding day itself, Michelle was a calm, steady, behind-the-scenes presence. If anything went wrong, we never knew—she handled it all. She checked in with us the perfect amount to make sure we were eating, feeling good, and truly enjoying ourselves. Thanks to her, I was able to feel fully present and at ease, soaking in every moment of the day. I’m so deeply grateful for the peace of mind Michelle gave us—not just on the wedding day, but throughout the entire process. She’s a true professional, and I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a thoughtful, supportive, and experienced coordinator.
Necessary support for DIYish brides!
Michelle was an excellent resource and support from our first call to the days after our wedding where she submitted our marriage license. We used her day of coordination service which is much more than just “day of.” As someone who was planning on her own (some help from the hubby), it was such a great pulse check when we talked to Michelle and she kept me on track and helped me remember the little details. She has a ton of resources and honestly all of that help was BEFORE the day of coordinating even began. Flawless execution of our rehearsal and timeline were the cherry on top. I received multiple compliments for how timely everything felt and that was very important to us. Would 10/10 recommend Bustle and Lace!
