Flower and oak were absolutely amazing. They showed up extremely early for our event and we had the highest premium package ordered for the day. I was greeted by both videographers With all kinds of cool camera gear and they told us exactly what to do and there was no time wasted. I highly recommend flower and oak to anyone looking at getting married soon. The one thing I don’t regret about our wedding day is using them because they were so great. Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

4.9

  • Florist
  • Starts at $350
  • Serves Walnut, IA

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Awarded Best of Zola
We used the “Full Monty” package for our wedding and DIY-ed all our florals. Our florist, Hattie, did a great job listening to our vision and responded to all of our questions quickly! We explored options together, and she was able to help us get so much more than we would have with a florist and with the exact color palette we were looking at. Neither of us are great at design/DIY, but we felt very supported by the plethora of tutorials, recipes, and videos to create our flowers. With our florals, we made 6 pillar arrangements, 2 bridal bouquets, 8 bridesmaid bouquets, 3 corsages, a boutonniere, 2 medium centerpieces, and close to 100 bud vases. My maid of honor made my bridal bouquet, which made it even more special than it would have if a florist had made it. The flowers arrived at our AirBnb without any issues, and we lost barely any florals! I will say if DIY-ing flowers, whether with Flower Moxie or not, make sure you have people to help - especially with getting the florals out of the wrapping, in buckets, and cutting stems. We had our crews help, and it still looked overwhelming at first, so I can see how it can be stressful. We had our day-of-coordinator set everything up florals-wise on our wedding day, and everything looked GORGEOUS. If you have the people to help and are looking for more florals for less money, we would definitely recommend DIY-ing with flower moxie

Alternative Wedding DJs

5.0

  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,500
  • Serves Walnut, IA

Stereotypical wedding DJs spoil the fun. They play the same songs (boring). There are gaps between songs (awkward). And they talk on the mic too much (obnoxious). We’re the alternative. We beat match & blend music (non-stop dancing) We use the mic appropriately (vibe isn’t ruined) We personalize the playlist with your input (you’ll love the music) If you say things like, “We’re having a non-traditional wedding!,” or “We need to blend our multicultural families,” or “I’ll die if my domineering future mother-in-law demands that the DJ to play her QVC album collection,” ... then we're for you!

Awarded Best of Zola
When planning my wedding, I knew finding the right DJ was going to be my hardest moment. I’m in that time of life where we have a few weddings a year, and you can almost certainly find me on the dance floor from the moment it opens to the last song, only leaving for bathroom breaks or to pull friends to the floor. Finding Alternative Wedding DJs was one of those serendipitous moments and I knew it was meant to be. From the website being transparent (let’s be real, a lot of vendors hide details and waste your time, but these guys don’t), to hearing samples I knew this was going to be the best decision for my wedding. Their vibe and energy is palpable, even from a digital screen. They worked secretly with my family to coordinate a surprise flashmob from my favorite movie and handled requests as if they had the ability to read my mind (yes, Rasputin Just Dance choreography came out). If you’re looking to have the best dance floor of your life, call Alternative Wedding DJs. You won’t regret it.

I found Mike via thumbtack & although on there it stated he was booked on my wedding date I thought I’d still reach out to him. I’m so happy I did because he put me in touch with our dj, thankyouteddy and he did an awesome job djing for our wedding! Mike was very informative and gave me plenty of information. He also has you do a questionnaire to help narrow down the right dj for you based off your music preferences. Mike will reached out periodically to follow up & also puts you in touch with the dj the week of the wedding to go over details. Teddy arrived on time and kept everyone on our toes throughout the night. The only thing I will say, is if you’re doing bridal party introductions it’s best to rehearse it if possible. Or give an exact time of the song for your dj to play when each couple comes out.

Debra Aslanidis Photography

We specialize in documentary-style micro weddings and elopements, which means we focus on capturing your day as it naturally unfolds. Instead of staging or posing moments, we observe and photograph the real, unscripted emotions, connections, and intimate details that make your celebration unique. Our goal is to tell your love story authentically, preserving the genuine moments that reflect the true essence of your special day.

My husband and I were beyond impressed with our entire experience with Debra Aslanidis Photography. From start to finish Debra made my experience as a bride so smooth and stress-free. Wedding planning can be a stressful process, but Debra provided excellent communication about what to expect leading up to the wedding and the day of, so we felt very at ease the entire time. When I ran into an unrelated issue (a problem with another vendor), Debra reached out and sent me recommendations and offered support while I dealt with the situation. It was unbelievably kind and not at all expected, but it really made me feel cared for and I appreciated Debra going above and beyond for me! On the day of our wedding, Debra and her partner Jeremy were absolutely phenomenal. For one, they worked so perfectly together. We had guests complimenting how well they worked and coordinated together! I seriously can’t thank them enough for not only being amazing photographers, but also helping with other tasks that they voluntarily did. I seriously felt like they assumed the role of our wedding coordinators at times, since we didn’t have one, by providing suggestions and opinions since they’re the experienced ones when it comes to weddings! I couldn’t be more thankful for their confidence and comfortability in doing so! Finally, I am seriously blown away by the fact that we got our photos about a month after our wedding day! Debra has worked weddings, engagement shoots, and other photoshoots every single weekend and has a family, yet still managed to bust her butt to finish our photos, and it was the best surprise to get our photos back right before celebrating one month of marriage. I am so in love with our photos and have looked at them every single day, multiple times a day, since getting them back. Photos are the one thing you keep from your wedding day (besides your memories!), and I am absolutely in love with the final photos! The editing is beautiful, and I’m so happy we prioritized finding a photographer who emphasizes the behind-the-scenes and candid moments. I love that our pictures are 100% in the moment and capture the real, raw emotions of everyone! There were several detailed shots of our venue and decor and I love those just as much as I love the ones of me, my husband, our families, and our friends! They’re all so stunning!! Our photos made me laugh, cry, audibly say “awww,” and smile the biggest, cheesy grin. I absolutely believe your photographer is one of the most important vendors you choose for your wedding day, and I would 1000% recommend Debra Aslanidis Photography to everyone I know!!

Wedding and Event Videographer. Five years filming weddings as a hobby, can't believe it's turned into a career. I love capturing your memories on such an important day and turning that footage into a beautiful video to rewatch the day over and over again. To keep things simple, I offer everything in one simple affordable package. I'm there all day long and I wanna be there to capture every single moment. You'll have your videos in three weeks or less.

Britt is an amazing wedding videographer! We had such a great time having him there for our wedding and you can't even tell there were 15mph winds during the audio portions. So awesome! We had a quick turnaround for videos and awesome communication. He drove all the way from SD to central MN for our wedding. The drone footage of the venue is beautiful and he truly captured our day. An amazing price for the quality of work you recieve. Can't recommend him enough.

- Over 12 years of successful work, more than 400 couples, more than 200 families and more than 100 companies have used our services - We do all shooting and editing personally and never hire third-party vendors. You will get exactly what you ordered - It is very important for us that the video convey the atmosphere of your event as much as possible, therefore we approach the details and musical arrangement with great care - Each project for us is always an individual work. We do not shoot or edit according to a template. - We always have a spare set of equipment - All material we always keep in duplicate.

5 Thousand Frames Films provided us with the best videography service we could have asked for on our wedding day. Their communication style was fantastic - they didn't overwhelm us with too many questions, and instead proposed perfect ideas to capture all the special moments. The quality of their work is unmatched, a solid 100 out of 5! They created an incredible same-day-edit video that was shown at the end of our wedding, and the quality, plot, music, and framing were all flawless. While I was getting ready, the videographer even took it upon himself to shoot all the necessary footage of the background details. I highly recommend 5 Thousand Frames Films - you're guaranteed to have the best experience, as their professionalism and quality of work is simply outstanding.
