Unresolved Refund and Service Issues
Prior to our wedding, our communication with DJ Joe Steven was positive. He was cooperative, enthusiastic, and reasonably priced. We hired him to DJ our wedding reception and trusted him to carry out the agreed-upon services. Unfortunately, several issues arose before, during, and after our wedding that give us serious concern. First, in the days leading up to the wedding, I requested his phone number to share with our wedding coordinator. When I attempted to call the number provided, it immediately returned a message stating the number was unavailable (non-existing?). I followed up by email and was told the number was correct. In hindsight, even when he previously called us, no phone number displayed on our screen. This made prior-communication on quick, urgent matters unnecessarily difficult; we were dependent on emails to communicate with him. Second, we provided a Spotify playlist with specific songs for the reception program, including our first dances. Ours was a cross-cultural wedding, and we intentionally selected songs in our native languages to honor our families. Despite this, the English version of the song for my father-daughter dance was played instead of the Korean version we had clearly selected. While the melody was the same, the language choice was intentional and deeply meaningful to us. It was disappointing that he did not play the version of the song we had specifically requested. Most concerning is an unresolved financial issue. We paid 300 for the “Dancing on the Clouds” service for our first dance, which was not provided on our wedding day. Since then, we have contacted DJ Joe multiple times via email and Zola requesting reimbursement. It has now been over a month, and despite five follow-up messages, we have received no response. We have exhausted all reasonable attempts to reach him. We delayed leaving a review in hopes this matter would be resolved professionally. Unfortunately, due to the lack of communication and accountability, we feel obligated to share our experience so future couples can make an informed decision.

I understand how important it is to feel you have timely access to your vendors, especially in the final days leading up to such an important event, and I regret that this caused any additional stress. I also sincerely apologize for the incorrect version of the father daughter dance song being played. I understand that the language choice was intentional and culturally significant, and I am very sorry for the oversight. That moment should have unfolded exactly as you envisioned. Upon review, the information provided included the song title and artist name but did not include a direct link to the specific version. The DJ selected the version based on the details available and reviewed this information with you in advance, at which time it was confirmed as correct. Regarding the “Dancing on the Clouds” service, it was ultimately not provided due to venue restrictions, as the venue did not permit its use. The product had already been purchased and delivered in advance in preparation for your event. Thank you again for your honest feedback.
