We went into the wedding with zero playlists and just told him to play whatever - every song was perfect. We only had one requested song which he waited until we were outside to play, and it was great. Our guests still talk to us about the guitarist and how amazing cocktail hour was. “Marcus did an amazing job as the DJ for our wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse! Prior to the wedding, we completed a worksheet on the timeline and our song preferences, and then had a planning meeting with him where we went over all the details and he gave us advice on flow and timeline based on his extensive experience DJ-ing weddings. Through all our interactions, we could tell how detail-oriented and experienced he was. The Prospect Park Boathouse can be a tricky venue with its short load-in time and long, narrow layout, but Marcus knew it well and planned accordingly. We also had a Vietnamese/Chinese wedding; in addition to a DJ, we also had a pianist with a singer, and a bilingual emcee. This added some complexity in terms of timeline and switching between the singer and the DJ, but Marcus coordinated well with everyone, kept track of the timeline, and handled all transitions between live music and DJ sets seamlessly. He also showed up a little early to make sure all equipment was set up well and did a mic check during the cocktail hour. During the dance portion of the night, the dance floor was packed all night and people did not want to leave! He played all the songs we wanted (along with additional ones he selected) and all the transitions and mixes were fantastic and kept the energy/vibe high. Many guests commented on how great our DJ was! Even though we had a different emcee, we know that Marcus would have done a fantastic job as an emcee as well - he is warm, friendly, gracious, and charismatic. He is not only a great DJ but also a fantastic human being!”

He was a professional, his app is amazing and helped guide Megan and Brandon with how to select songs all the way through the preceremony to the end of the reception. There was even a place to provide their comments or special memories for particular songs, so that Jay could share. The photo booth was a huge hit too! What was most important to me was that everyone loved the music and Jay and commented during and after the wedding with how great he was and the music. “HiMotive Entertainment & Photobooth did a great job keeping our wedding reception fun and upbeat. While their communication was a bit delayed leading up to the event, they were ultimately effective in executing on the day-of. The DJ kept the party going all night with a good song selection, though they did play 3 Taylor Swift songs in a row at the start, which we would have preferred more variety. The MC's ad-libs got a little overbearing at times, but overall they did a nice job sticking to the schedule and making important announcements. We'd recommend HiMotive to other couples looking for an energetic DJ.”
